DeAnte Johnson graduated from MCC’s Cosmetology program May 4, 2024. He loves Cosmetology as a career field because it allows him the flexibility to spend time with his children. Every other weekend his two daughters have a spa weekend with Daddy. His future plans include pursuing a degree in Business at UM-Flint.
Dave Bradely came to MCC to reboot his career after being in the jewelry business for 18 years. He returned to college at the age of 40 to study nursing. “Going back to college wasn’t just for me to prove something to myself. It was for my family and to make a better life for them,” he said. Dave worked as a nurse locally for many years before retiring in 2017.
Jennifer Cronkwright came back to MCC taking advantage of Michigan Reconnect as a way to finish the education she started and stopped multiple times. She excelled academically and got involved in campus groups,serving as President of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, part of the Honors Clown troupe, and was a member of the MCC President’s Student Advisory Council (PSAC). She graduated in 2022, and transferred to UM-Flint for a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications Business at UM-Flint.
Janneicka Hicks stopped in and out of college a few times before returning in the fall of 2023 at the age of 36. She took online classes as a full time student while working two jobs. She finished in time to graduate with one of her children, earning a degree in Criminal Justice and one in General Studies. Her future plans are to join the Flint police Academy in September with a goal of someday becoming a detective.
