What is Phi Theta Kappa?
Established in November of 1918, Phi Theta Kappa has become the largest and the
most prestigious honor society serving two-year colleges
around the world.
Is Phi Theta Kappa a Fraternity/Sorority?
No. Phi Theta Kappa is a 'society' of honor students. This organization is based
solely on your academic excellence.
Is there an initiation for new members?
There is NO initiation for new members, although there are 2 Induction Ceremonies
each year.
Why should I join Phi Theta Kappa?
When can I join Phi Theta Kappa and how much does it cost?
Phi Theta Kappa holds two Inductions of New Members each year, once during the
fall semester and once during the winter semester. Students who meet the minimum requirements
for membership will receive an invitation letter that is sent to their homes. There
is a one-time fee of $90.00 to join, which covers all international, regional and
local fees.
Am I required to be active and how much time would be involved?
The time you devote to Phi Theta Kappa is a matter of choice. We offer opportunities
for all levels of involvement from Executive Board to volunteer opportunities.
Requirements for Phi Theta Kappa Membership:
12 Credit Hours Completed
at MCC 100 level or higher with a 3.5 Grade Point Average. Must
maintain 3.25 accumulative GPA
