The mission of the Perkins SP Mentoring Program is to foster relationships, encourage team building and help students as they strive to achieve their academic goals.
The Perkins SP Mentoring Program helps both the mentor and the mentee by providing different levels of support and experiences. To create a program that encourages students working together rather than being in competition with one another means developing mutual respect in the world of academics where students are brought together by a common love of learning and the drive for success. Students need support from all levels within higher education. Peer mentors just add to that wrap around support by offering a different perspective to one another and encouraging success for all.
If you are a current MCC student and you’re interested in becoming a mentor or you are a current MCC student and would like to receive assistance from a mentor, please contact Kris Nevala, Perkins SP Coordinator at [email protected] or (810) 762-0539.
