Since 2003, Gateway to College has evolved from a single-site program into a national network of 28 colleges in 14 states partnering with more than 100 school districts. MCC is excited to be a part of the Gateway to College network and the first community college in the State of Michigan to implement the Gateway to College program. In April 2019, the Gateway to College National Network merged with Achieving the Dream Inc. ATD is a national nonprofit leader in championing evidence-based institutional improvement with a long-term, sustainable commitment to improving student success. ATD is based in Maryland and leads a growing network of more than 200 community colleges.
We can all agree – Traditional high school is not for everyone. Students can face challenges in their lives that make it difficult for them to complete high school—frequent absences, family responsibilities, violence, medical problems, and language challenges all effect a student's ability to participate and be successful in a traditional high school setting.
The Fact Remains – Completing high school is incredibly important to a student's potential for long-term job/career success; most highly desirable positions require education past high school.
To That End – If you have stopped out of high school, or are behind in credits for your age and grade in Genesee County, the Mott Community College Gateway to College program may be right for you.
Gateway to College exists to give students like you a second chance at a high school diploma AND an opportunity to work toward a college degree or certificate.
