American Black Literature

Course Requirements: Prerequisite: Successful completion of ENGL-101 or 103 with a grade of 2.0 or higher, and placement into RDNG-030 or successful completion of RDNG-016.
Description: An intensive study of African-American literature from the 1700s to the present. Students will read and discuss works such as slave narratives, short stories, novels, poems and plays by such authors as Douglass, Chesnutt, Hughes, Gaines, Morrison, Baraka, Hayden, Hansberry and Wilson.
