Mott Community College participates in Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The IRS sponsors the VITA program which offers FREE tax preparation (Federal, State and Local) to qualifying individuals that make $57,000 or less.* (For more information on the VITA program please visit the IRS site)
Students and Faculty become certified through the IRS and volunteer in the VITA program by preparing tax returns (Federal, State and Local) for individuals and families in our community. Students use the education gained from the classroom to apply to real world experience. This form of service learning includes reflections from their involvement. Volunteers actively practice citizenship and critical thinking (MCC General Education Requirements).
This service is available by appointment only. Please contact Alana Ferguson (MCC Assoc. Professor in Accounting) at 810-232-6293.
