The Institute for Medical Simulation is providing a highly-sophisticated, virtual clinical setting for practitioners to upgrade invaluable, hands-on skills in the treatment and care of patients. Medical simulation is becoming increasingly necessary in the delivery of health care and service in the 21st century. MCC is proud to be in an excellent position to offer this unique and innovative experience for the medical community.
Adult Emergency Care Simulator (ECS)
Considered the world's most portable human patient simulator according to METI, the ECS offers the ability to practice life-saving skills in any environment, offering practitioners an opportunity to train on intubation practices and the delicate nuances of placing a patient under anesthesia.
Pediatric patients are intrinsically different on every level from adults. PediaSIM plays a pivotal role by ensuring that a student or practitioners first exposure to the complexities involved in treating a critically ill child takes place when the dangers are not real.
The Simulation Rooms are designed to mimic realistic patient care in a safe environment. Your scenario could take place in an emergency room, a physician’s office, an intensive care bed, or at an accident scene, etc. There are ample opportunities to simulate care to patients. The IMS Education Center has 2 simulators, an adult and a child. Multiple high-risk procedures can be performed with the simulators, such as defibrillation, chest tube insertion, needle decompression and intubation. Staff will be provided to manage the simulators and run the AV equipment.
All simulations can be reviewed in the debriefing room. The debriefing room is a conference room setting and is designed to review your scenarios in a relaxed atmosphere. The debriefing room has a 63 “plasma monitor.
Classroom with Task Trainers
The classroom will seat up to 12 trainer stations comfortably. The tables can be adjusted to a sitting or standing position for ease of use while working on the task trainers. Students can practice procedures over and over again until they are proficient with their skills.
MetiVision is designed so the students and Instructor can review their scenarios after they’ve left the Simulation Center. You can review your scenario in the debriefing room and then go back to your workplace or training center and review the same scenario as often as you like. A password is assigned to each scenario so that only your group can view your scenario after you leave the Simulation Laboratory.
